Summary of research paper and important sentenses

The aim of this paper is to review various recent work on fingerprint recognition systems and explain fingerprint recognition stages step by step and give summaries of fingerprint databases with characteristics.

In the case of the identification process the fingerprint acquired from one person is compared with all the fingerprints which are stored in the database.

In the online fingerprint identification the optical fingerprint reader is used to capture the image of the fingerprint.

Enhancement using two stage determination of reference point and determination of ROI Gray scale image ,binarization Gabor filter and FFT, Normalization, local orientation,local frequency, region mask , filter, Binarization 2006 2007 2008 2013 2012 2007 2013 . The feature extraction process of fingerprint image applied on the output of the pre-processing stage.

 

In their research they extract the minutiae from fingerprint image after applying the binarized, thinned and segmented version of a fingerprint image.

There are many fingerprint databases which are deferred from others by total images, number of subjects, number of samples , image size, resolution and type sensor which capture the image of fingerprint the table, show the some standards databases available with some of characteristics of it.

 

In addition to that we introduced some techniques for fingerprint recognition and finally the summary of fingerprint databases with some characteristics.

 

Important points:

  1. This article is an overview of current research based on fingerprint recognition systems. 
  2.  In the past few decades, human-beings have been addicted to various technologies such as captured photos, scanned signatures, barcode systems, verification Id & so on.
  3. The Image Acquisition stage is the process to obtain images in different ways. There are two ways to capture fingerprint images; online and offline.
  4. The pre-processing stage is the process of removing unwanted data in the fingerprint image such as noise, reflection,etc. The fingerprint image pre-processing is used to increase the clarity of ridge structure.
  5. The feature extraction process of fingerprint image applied on the output of the pre-processing stage. The process of feature extraction depends on a set of algorithms.
  6. The famous method is minutiae extraction algorithm which finds the minutiae points and maps their relative placement on the fingerprint .
  7. There are two types of minutiae points; Ridge ending and Ridge bifurcation.
  8. They are used an advanced method for extract feature from fingerprint which done by extract minutiae directly from original gray-level images without use binarization and thinning and they use gabor filter methods to extract features from fingerprint
  9. In their method use Discrete Wavelet Transform and Discrete Fourier Transform to perform their algorithm
  10. Classification approaches assign a class to each biometric in a database. There are many classification methods including KNN classifier
