1. The Victoria Memorial

 

 

The eminent marble memorial of Queen Victoria, 'Victoria Memorial' was structured in 1906 by lord Curzon, the then  Viceroy of India. The marvelous epitome of Bengal's revolutionary history is perfect indo-saracenic architecture and welcomes approx 20 Lacs guests per year. The beautiful monument covers over 57 acres of land, 21 gardens, 28394 artifacts, and 3900 artistic paintings. The major landmark of the city is now a museum and travel attraction. The 25 galleries of Victoria Memorial includes sculpture gallery, royal gallery, the central hall, portrait gallery, the arms and armory gallery, and the Calcutta gallery. The markana marble designed structure was funded by Indians.

 

2. Howrah Bridge

 

The 6th of the cantilever suspension type bridges, Howrah Bridge today we'll known as 'Rabindra setu' after the great personality Rabindranath Tagore. When it comes to capture the glimpses of Kolkata, 'Howrah bridge' attracts the 1st attention of minds. The mysterious bridge spans over the Hoogly river in the West Bengal which does have no nuts and bolts but was built riveting the entire structure. One of the busiest bridges in the world carries 100,000 vehicles and perhaps more than 150,000 pedestrians. The bridge has featured the glamour industry in Gunday, Barfi, Love aaj kal etc.

 

3. Eco-park, Kolkata

 

  Nature lover's favourite picnic spot, Eco park is well based on its name. It occupies 480 acres land and surrounded by 104 acres of water even with an Island in mid of it. The division of the park is - ecological zone, theme garden and open spaces and urban recreational spaces. Inaugurated in 2012, the park is newest heaven added to splendid amazements of the city. The best park of the Eco park are the replicas of the seven wonders of India which seems exact same of the originals. 

 

4. Dakshineshwer Temple 

 

Dakshineshwer Kali temple situated alongside the river Ganga (Hoogly) of Vivekananda bridge, north of Calcutta is the epitome of profound devotion of Bengalis on goddess Kali. One of the largest temples of Kolkata took 8 years to be completed (1847-1855) by queen Rasmani, queen of Janbazar. Temple's courtyard also comprises 12 shivlings that encircles the main temple of 'Maa'. More 2km away, there lies 'Dakshineswer Ramakrishna Sangha Adyapeth' dedicated to Adya MAA. 

 

5.Marble Palace

 

 

Trip to Calcutta remains incomplete without visiting heavenly mansion depicting the antiquity in North Kolkata. As the name says, elegant neoclassical styled, palace is the three-storied structure which also have open space courtyard defining the Bengal ethicnity. Well renowned for art works and western handicrafts. It is one of the best preserved museum in Kolkata. The authentic chandelier, European antiques, Venetian crystals, ancient piano, and china-made blue necklace showcase the luxury of that time. One can also spot a zoo assorted with winged species and some monkey and deers there. 

 

6. St Paul's Cathedral

 

The largest church of Kolkata 'St Pauls Cathedral' was the 1st ever Anglican cathedral in Asia. It is located in 1A, Cathedral Road, Kolkata-71. Dedicated to Paul the Apostle, the beautiful church stands in the gothic revival with a length of 75 meters and 25 meters of width. Cathedral presents a library located in the western porch and even exhibits plastic art forms and memorabilia. St Paul's cathedral welcomes about 2 million visitors annually.
